Festive Frenzy

The Brief

NUS approached Matmi to produce a game with minimal barrier to entry which delivers perks for NUS members but in short is an addictive, light-hearted promotional tool.

Our Solution

We wanted to build a clean and cheerful cross-platform game. Borrowing inspiration from such popular and addictive games like Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wario Ware Inc. and more recently Dumb Ways to Die, the solution became instantly clear. Pickup-and-play micro games with simple mechanics and a focus on competitive, replayable social gaming.

The visual design has been inspired by 1950’s retro cartoons which have a thread of clean geometric aesthetic. Inspirations such as the Jetsons, Flintstones and early Hanna-Barbera cartoons form the basis, with a focus on humour of the characters, in combination with minimal but beautifully textural backgrounds and restricted colour palettes.
