that was then, this is nowOnly a couple of years ago, people understood the term “viral marketing” to be a malicious infection of their computers. Happily, we’re all on the same wavelength now and viral marketing has earned its place in the Matmisphere as the digital equivalent of word of mouth marketing – and that’s gold dust. Why? By recommending your company, product or service, people endorse it. The person who they’re sending it to trusts their judgement because they know each other, so they’re highly likely to act on it. It happens every day. You see an advert for a new restaurant in town and it doesn’t register. Your mate says to you “Have you seen that new restaurant in town? We had a really nice meal there last night.” And you think “Mmmmm, must give that a try.” That’s the power of viral marketing and we’ve been doing it for years. It’s how we’ve boosted our own brand’s presence on the Internet and the track record we’ve built up with clients is way beyond coincidence. We know every trick in the viral marketing book and having one of the most advanced seeding databases in the world is a huge advantage. We know when and where to place games, videos and other material for the very best effect. And talking about effects, type “Dustbingate” into Google for an example. That campaign helped a UK author get a film deal in Hollywood. Really.
