we are matmi. welcome...

what we do

We enjoy farming. Cultivating beautiful, fun and original produce keeps us going. We put our hearts and souls into everything that we create, fully immersing ourselves into every aspect of it. Our produce is what you need it to be.

We ‘do’: websites, adverts, branding, game production, advergames, screensavers, database integration, viral marketing, 3D imaging, music production, film production, CD presentations, ringtones, mobile games, mobile screensavers, signage, brochures / leaflets, photography, large format canvases, hoardings, logos, CGI representations, exhibitions - and brews for visitors to our farmhouse (occasionally!).

But any old agency can trot out a list like that. Next thing you’ll be asking to see some examples of our hard work and we’re happy to oblige. But it’s very unlikely that you haven’t seen something from our harvest already.

Produce that Matmi has cultivated for clients has appeared in The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, The London Evening Standard and the Manchester Evening News. We’ve also featured in magazines such as Loaded, FHM (in the “Top 100 Online Games of All Time”) and on quite a few TV stations. Of course, it might just be that you’ve looked at one of our websites or chilled out at lunchtime playing one of our games. We’ve created produce for a number of household brands - Argos, Glaxo Smithkline, Dollond & Aitchison and Miniclip, to name but a few.

who we are
Matmi was born at the turn of the millenium as a web design and programming company with a twist. On the outside, we’re scruffy geeks who work odd hours. Behind that are business brains and a passion for what we do - and the way we do it. We get disappointed when we meet clients’ expectations because it’s too ordinary; we push the boundaries to make every single piece of work unforgettable. And that’s my point: whatever we look like, all you should be interested in is the quality of our work. It turns out that Matmi’s produce is pretty good. We started winning awards for it almost straightaway and in December 2006, we took a Bronze at the 19th annual Eurobest awards for one of our 2006 game releases.

We’ve always been forward thinking, and before long we started producing viral games to attract visitors to our clients’ sites. And guess what? We won awards for that, too. In fact, viral gaming has become a massive part of Matmi’s organic Internet farm. But those are just the jobs we like most: there’s much more to Matmi than that.

At the heart of Matmi is a team of skilled creatives, and we create all sorts of produce for traditional print and advertising campaigns as well.
We love growing original, successful, lateral ideas and although farming is a 24-7 profession, It’s no hardship when you do what you love and love what you do.

why us?
So why would anyone hire scruffy geeks like us?

Because our work gets results. We have a proven track record of vastly increasing clients’ brand recognition and sales - which is probably why you looked us up in the first place. Be warned, though. We’re not a suit and tie kind of a place, and we’re not a “yes yes” agency either. You pay us for our experience and knowledge, so that’s what we give. Constructive and sometimes “challenging” criticism should be expected.

Beyond that, Matmi endeavours to have a splendid relationship with its clients; many of them have become good friends and we all try hard to keep in touch with each other. Our philosophy is clear: To cultivate unforgettable produce at a reasonable cost. We love to love what we do, and it seems to be working well.

new media
New media production and viral marketing are Matmi’s bread and butter. We count a number of high profile names in our client portfolio: Argos, Lloyds TSB, Computer Associates, Jim Beam, Scottish Executive, McCann I, Universal Music, DTZ, Miniclip, Anglo Drinks (Brown Cow Vodka), Roche and Glaxo Smithkline to name but a few.

We have helped companies like these significantly improve their web presence. We design websites and e-commerce solutions, and we integrate databases, enabling back office support and administration. From viral marketing and advergames production through to screensavers, CD ROMS’s, DVD’s and touch screen installations, we can help you make the most of new media technology.

Specifics
OK, you’ve got the general idea. You might have decided to give us a call already. But maybe you have some specific questions about some of our services that we can answer.

web design
Matmi designs beautiful websites and we have the confidence to know that we can produce sites that will look good, work well and achieve their goals. We can design any type of site you require, from simple static sites to full e-commerce site with linked in IVR applications.
See some of our example sites

e-commerce
Do you want to sell directly over the web? Matmi can help. As conventional retails sales slip, online sales grow. More and more people have the confidence to shop over the Internet. We have worked with all the major banks and merchants. Unlike a lot of other companies we produce bespoke solutions to fit your requirements.

Our latest e-commerce project can be seen at www.stone-emporium.co.uk

database integration
We help you to use databases to your advantage.
Please take a look at www.raymondreynolds.co.uk for an example.

viral marketing
Don’t worry, this has nothing to do with viruses that corrupt your PC. The only similarity is the way that this great marketing phenomenon spreads.

You’ve probably seen several virals. They usually consist of a funny video clip, amusing pictures, presentations and advergames. Many virals enjoy major success and have received massive press coverage and TV showings. Some of the famous ones are the various MasterCard “Priceless” pictures and video clips.

And another of our most successful campaigns was for the launch of Anglo Drinks’ Brown Cow Vodka. We produced the website, viral clip and the cow curling game, and two years later, the game is still being played 2,000 times a day! If you look up 'cow curling' in Google, you will see that all the listings on the first 10 pages are related to the brand. See www.shakethecow.com to play.

As you can see, our viral marketing services are a great way to spread brand awareness.

seo (search engine optimisation)
You can have the best website in the world but how is anybody going to find you?

Matmi can get your site noticed by the major search engines. We use conventional listing techniques and Google adwords. We have the ability to attract visitors to your site by the truckload. Really.

PS. Our own site is in the top ten results if you look up “advergames” on www.google.co.uk.

advergames and virals
Matmi realises that there's a kid in most of us! We all like to play games. At matmi we like to create addictive games that make us have 'one more go' - to get a better score or beat your mate.
It makes sense to take this opportunity and promote your brand and products to these users.

At Matmi, we speak with experience about how a game can spread through the Internet like a virus. For example, our Christmas game Santa Fartypants was the busiest viral in the world for the festive period 2006 (viralchart.com), it received more than 3 million plays in December and is still getting over 15,000 plays per day. Since its launch, the game has recieved over 4 million views.

That's an extra 4 million people visiting our website and seeing our brand. So you see, there is a way of mixing games with work. They do not have to be complicated and big in file size; just simple, funny and addictive.

We recently produced a game for Comic Relief called "Let it Flow" this game was the fastest moving viral game EVER. It recieved over 3 million plays within the first month of being released. Currently this game has attracted more than 13.7 million players, 10 million more than our competitor's Comic Relief effort.

One of our viral games “Attack of the Funky Disco Zombies” went straight to No.2 in the worldwide viral chart in October 2006. Take a look at www.game.joke.uk. It also won an award in the 19th annual Eurobest awards; in fact, it was the only game to win anything! Zombies attracted 30,000 new people to the client’s website in less than a month.

As you can see, Matmi is very versatile!

  • We can create a game that works in synergy with your brand.

  • We can brand existing games, or work on a bespoke game unique to your company.

  • The games can either be downloaded or played direct from the Internet.

  • Alternatively, they can be distributed on CD/ROM or DVD as part of a wider marketing campaign.

  • And we can even place subtle but really effective advertising for your products/services inside the game so that players can reach you directly.
