By now most of you have probably seen the photo’s of digital artist Nickolay Lamm’s ‘average Barbie’, Lammily. After the success of his ‘What Would Barbie Look Like As an Average Woman?‘ post on his website last year, Lamm decided to set up a crowdsourcing campaign to actually get the doll produced which has, so far, overachieved it’s target funding by $350,000.
Designed to promote diversity to children, Lamm claims that the doll is made according to typical human body proportions, with articulated wrists, knees, elbows, and feet. She is dressed with ‘striking simplicity’ and wears minimal makeup.
So we’ve all been thinking here at Matmi about our version of ‘average’ based on what we see every day. What does Matmi’s real girl next door look like? It is of course, our dazzling CEO, Jeffie!
We’ll let you come to terms with what you’ve just seen…
