Hi Clair! Can you explain your role here at Matmi?
I’m a project manager, this basically means I get everyone organised on projects, plan them out and liaise with our clients to make sure we collaborate effectively. It also involves managing Jeff and trying to make sure he doesn’t get too carried away!
You’ve officially been a Matmian for about five months now, what have been your highlights so far?
Apart from the sweets, biscuits and after work drinks? This is going to sound cheesy, but I’m really enjoying working with such a talented team, the stuff that gets produced is amazing. There’s always a good atmosphere at Matmi, it really is like a family! We’ve got some exciting projects coming up in the next few months, I can’t wait to get going on those.
What has been your favourite Matmi project you have managed so far?
I think the Heritage Hunter app for West Somerset Railway (coming soon), I like the way they’re embracing the future. The app is a great mix of information and discovery and I think their visitors are going to love it.
What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod/Spotify?
This always changes depending on my mood! At the moment, probably the The ’59 Sound by The Gaslight Anthem, I’ve been revisiting that album a lot recently.
Tell us your most embarrassing moment?
Probably the numerous amount of times my dog pulls me over in front of people whilst on a walk. He has a habit of seeing squirrels (or imagining them) and chasing them especially when he’s on a lead, sometimes he thinks he can scale a tree to get them. I always come back from a walk covered in mud.
And lastly, if you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you take and why?
I’m far too practical (the project manager in me), so some sort of Leatherman multi-tool, that’d cover quite a few things (knives, saw etc). Also, a Ray Mears extreme survival book, or maybe Ray himself – think he’d get on my nerves though. Lastly, a really good quality cast iron pan for my cooking needs. I love my cookware, so I reckon a nice Le Creuset one should just about cover it.
