Demob happy isn’t even close!

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It’s always mad at Matmi, but this month we were checking the CCTV before opening the door just in case the men in white coats had really caught up with us.

Thank goodness I’ve got a great team of people here because we’ve pulled out every stop there is to complete three releases this month. (At one point when I looked out of the window and it was dark, I had to think hard whether it was night or morning).

Bob the Builder’s “Never Mind The Breeze Blocks” site is getting loads of visitors, and will get even busier now the kids are breaking up from school. We’re putting the final touches on a game for Envirofone to go out in January and as I write this, we think we may have 2008’s fastest trafficking viral game on our hands.

With 82,000 plays since midnight last night on its second day of release, our game for Lily Allen “Escape The Fear” is already looking like a chart topper. Even two of other game makers have sent me an email to say what a great game they think it is. (You see, it’s all peace and harmony in the magical world of Matmi).

So while other people are talking gloom and doom, we’re rocking! I’ve got proposals in to three blue chip companies and if we get just one of them, we’ll need more people. If you’re an AS3 (Actionscript) developer or if you know one – or if you know an AS2 developer who wants to learn AS3, please please please get in touch! We really need more hands on deck. The work we’ve got coming up is going to be really fun to do – and highly successful as well which is always good for your CV.

Another reason I’m really pleased about having a great team of people around me is that I can buzz off and leave them to it. So, guess what? I am!!! Goodbye grey skies and hello beautiful Laos via Amsterdam and Bangkok (now I’ve written that, it looks like a really dodgy trip, doesn’t it?!).

Before I go I’d like to say a heartfelt, sincere and massive Thank You to everyone at Matmi, all our clients and all the wonderful people who love our work. We’ve had our best year yet but I promise we will never be complacent. You’re the judge of our work and we want to make sure you always get the best.

Have a great Xmas & New Year, Best wishes, Jeff

PS. Just a thought to leave you with: I think another reason we’re getting more commissions is because companies are realising that online is more cost effective and gets better results. You know who to call.

Matmi get Fresh

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Matmi have won a finalist award at the Fresh Awards in Manchester. Our Landfill Bill game we produced for Asda won the Finalist award for the Freshest Green Campaign. The game focused on recycling and how much of our waste goes into landfill. The game highlighted these issues whilst informing users of Asda’s green credentials.

The game has been played more than 1.5 million times.
