As part of The Global Goals, Matmi were asked to develop a fun game for the Dizzy Goals challenge. We were excited to be part of this initiative to raise awareness of the Global Goals for the United Nations and couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
To score a dizzy goal you put your hand on a ball and spin around it 13 times, run to another ball on the marker and try to shoot a goal. Our challenge was to bring this real life experience to a fun game to promote the Global Goals and reinforce the important message. We put our thinking caps on…
The game features awesome animations that are integral to the unpredictableness of scoring and obvious consequences when you get too dizzy! With each goal it gets harder to keep your player upright and becomes more difficult to hit the target.
Featuring Facebook integration and a leader board, brag about your score and challenge your friends to do better. As you share, you spread the news about the Global Goals.
We built the game in HTML5 to reach as wide an audience as possible. The advantage of using HTML5 is the many cross platform capabilities and wide accessibility across mobile, tablet and web.
Gail Gallie, Co-Founder of Project Everyone said, “Football is huge, and gaming is huge- we couldn’t resist turning the dizzy goal phenomena into a game and can’t wait to see people play it”
Alan Shearer, Liverpool FC, Spurs and Crystal Palace FC are among those taking part in the Dizzy Goals Challenge to raise awareness of The Global Goals.
Get involved by playing the game at http://dizzygoalsgame.globalgoals.org. Why not try and score your own Dizzy Goal, head over to http://www.globalgoals.org/dizzy-goals/ and post your video with the hashtag #DizzyGoals and make sure you tag @theglobalgoals
